Private universities must shift to own campuses: Nahid
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid today warned that private universities must shift to own campuses within next one year, otherwise legal action will be taken against those universities. "The government will shut down those private universities, which will fail to move to their own campuses within next one year time," he told while addressing the 15th convocation of East West University (EWU) in the city. Chairman of University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh Prof Abdul Mannan, Chairperson of the Board of Trustee Prof Dr Mohammad Farasuddin, Vice-Chancellor of the university Prof MM Shahidul, Teacher of Computer Science and Engineering Department Prof Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, among others, addressed the convocation. Nahid said the government has taken massive initiatives for promoting research and knowledge generation activities at the universities. He urged both public and private universities to maximize the opportunities to generate new knowledge to build students as skilled workforce in the country.
