Times of Dhaka : The re-investigation report of Salman Shah murder case will be submitted on September 15. A Dhaka court on Monday fixed the date for submitting the re-investigation report of the killing of popular film actor Shahriar Chowdhury Imon, widely know as Salman Shah. Metropolitan magistrate Amit Kumar Dey passed the order in the afternoon as the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), who have been conducting the investigation, did not submit the report on Monday (July 20) that was fixed as the date of submission. On February 10 this year, Dhaka CMM Court sent the case to RAB for re-investigation after Salman Shah’s mother Nilufar Chowdhury, alias Nila Chowdhury, submitted naraji (objection) petition against earlier probe report. Salman Shah allegedly committed suicide on September 6, 1996. His father Komoruddin Chowdhury filed an unnatural death (UD) case. On July 24, 1997, Komoruddin Chowdhury applied to shift the case into a murder case, claiming that his son did not commit suicide. Rather, he was murdered. Following the application, as per court order, a judicial investigation committee was formed to investigate the death of Salman Shah. On November 3, 1997, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) submitted the final report saying Salman Shah committed suicide. The court accepted the report on November 25 that year. However, Komoruddin Chowdhury rejected the CID report and filed a revision case. Later, on May 19, 2003, the court sent the case for judicial investigation. Finally, around after 12 years, metropolitan magistrate Imdadul Haque submitted the report to the chief metropolitan magistrate of Dhaka Bikas Kumar Saha on August 3, 2014, saying the actor’s death as ‘unnatural’. As Komoruddin passed away, Salman’s mother Nila Chowdhury moved for filing the naraji petition rejecting the report on February 10, 2015, according to a news agency.
