PM lays foundation for Asia’s largest burn institute
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has laid the foundation stone of Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery at Chankharpool of Dhaka.

The burn institute will be the largest of its kind in the world.

PM laid the foundation stone by unveiling the plaque. Later, a munajat was offered seeking peace and prosperity of the country.

The project Tk 522 crore was approved by Ecnec on November 24 last year. The main goal will be to produce burn specialists and plastic surgeons of international standards and also to train up nurses, paramedics, physiotherapists and staff specialized in dressings.

In the event, the PM said, “People do not support BNP as they kill people through politics.

Recalling the BNP-Jamaat’s blockade and hartal in 2015, PM said how they could expect public support as politics is not for killing people.

She also added that BNP-Jamaat’s main focus was to kill people through their movement.

“We do politics for the welfare of people and upholding their interests,” Hasina said.

The institute will initially have the ability to produce 10 to 12 doctors every year. They will attain the Master of Science in Plastic Surgery and will be posted to different burn units of the country.

The burn institute will have 500 beds, including 50 for the intensive care unit, 12 operating theaters equipped with latest technology.

The building will have three wings meant for burn and plastic surgery, administrative and academic and outdoor activities.
