Bangladesh : Thousands of homebound people have started leaving the capital Dhaka by train from Sunday morning.
Bangladesh Railway (BR) began its five-day Eid service from early Sunday. Homebound people who collected advance tickets are travelling by train to their village homes to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with their near and dear ones.
A total 20 trains left Kamalapur Railway Station till 11.00 am when the report was filed.
The special rail services have been arranged to ease the load of homebound passengers, rail authorities say.
BR sold tickets in advance ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha from September 15 to September 19. It is operating special train services before Eid from September 20 to September 24 and for seven days after Eid from September 27 to October 3.
BR has connected 138 additional passenger coaches with the existing number of coaches running for facilitating the homebound passengers.
It has also connected 25 additional engines during the time for facilitating the homebound passengers.
